Peronal Trainer
LegalTalk assigns each lawyer in the office a personal LegalTalk Coach -- a native English-speaking lawyer with relevant legal experience and training to teach Legal English -- with the goal of improving the lawyer’s English skills.
Practical Study Plan
15 minute, one-on-one conversations with a LegalTalk Coach who is personally chosen for that lawyer. Each session will integrate vocabulary for either small talk or professional content in that lawyer’s practice area, the lawyer will be assigned written exercises that are not based on a template, to practice writing e-mails, memos and letters.
Choosing the Topic for Each Session
Either the law firm or the individual lawyer can choose which topics to focus on for the next session. They can choose topics directly related to that lawyer’s legal practice, relevant business issues, or more general or personal topics.
Personal Customization
The LegalTalk Coach with create a unique study plan for each lawyer, customized to fit that lawyer’s level of English, area of practice and other relevant needs and goals of that lawyer.
Progress
The LegalTalk Coach will follow each lawyer’s progress, focusing especially on progress made in reaching pre-determined goals.
Flexibility and Availability
LegalTalk sessions are arranged to fit each lawyer’s individual schedule - at the time and place that is most convenient for that lawyer.
Cultural Awareness
The LegalTalk Coach will also point out differences in style, mannerisms and word choice that are customary and considered polite in written and spoken communications.
Direct Feedback
After each session, the LegalTalk Coach will send the lawyer an email with written feedback from that session. Feedback will include specific points for improvement, a review of new words or phrases learned, practice exercises, and guidelines for the next session.
